Industrial Design Students Visit IKEA
A technical visit to the IKEA Ankara store was organized with our second-year Industrial Design students as part of the Product Design I course project titled “Design of Everyday Objects.” The aim of the visit was to enable students to observe real-life design applications on-site and examine product design, user experience, and modular furniture systems.
The event was organized with the participation of our Dean and Head of Department Prof. Dr. İhsan Toktaş, along with course instructors Dr. Taner Aşçı and Research Assistant Ece Erden. During the visit, students had the opportunity to closely observe key design components such as function, aesthetics, ergonomics, material use, and user experience by examining real product examples.
This technical visit allowed our students to approach the design discipline within the context of everyday life, improve their observation skills, and experience a user-centered design perspective.
During their observations in the store, students analyzed products in terms of material selection, ergonomics, packaging methods, and brand identity, collecting data for the design projects they will carry out as part of the course.
